Cardi or Nicki? More likely to be snubbed from Best Rap album Grammy

Recommended Posts

With Nicki’s “Queen” being release this August means her album will be Grammy eligible but Best Rap Album consist of 5 nominees. Here are the 4 guarantee slots.

1. Eminem - Revival

2. Kanye West - Ye

3. Post Malone - Beerbongs & Bentley’s

4. Drake - Scorpin

who will take the #5 slot? Cardi with “Invasion of Privacy” or Nicki with “Queen” or will another rap artist take the slot? Migos? J. Cole?

Will Kendrick take #5 by submitting “The Black Panther” soundtrack” into Rap album? Since the Greatest Showman is a contender to win Best Soundtrack Album?

Both will get snubbed unfortunately tho Nicki deserves.

JCole will get that 5th spot or like you said the Black Panther soundtrack.

Cardi B shouldn’t have submitted “Bodak Yellow” last year because of her nomination for it she isn’t eligible for “Best New Artist” and that would of been within her reach to snatch this year.

That is not true. You only are not eligible if you've won. They changed that after it made Lady Gaga not eligible to be nominated for best new artist because Just Dance was nominated the year before the album was eligible. :judgega:

Nicki is never winning a Grammy, especially after that terrible performance. Nor does she have anything Grammy worthy. I can surely see Cardi B snagging a Grammy though.

And Cardi does?

Lmao not with those lyrics... that she didnt even write as a rapper...

Anyway the Grammys award success instead of talent nowadays so you could be right...

I’m confuse because people are always saying that a nomination takes away Best New Artist because the nomination means the artist had their breakthrough.:cardi:

No that rule was rihmoved after Lady Gaga. Look at the Best New artist wikipedia page.

Quote

Over the years, the eligibility rules for this category have changed several times. In 2010, Lady Gaga's exclusion from the Best New Artist category caused the Recording Academy to change eligibility requirements for the next ceremony. She was ineligible for the nomination because her hit "Just Dance" had been nominated in 2008. The new rule stated that an artist can be nominated as long as that artist has not previously released an entire album and has subsequently not won a Grammy.[11][12] In June 2016, the Grammy organization amended the Best New Artist rules once again, to remove the album barrier “given current trends in how new music and developing artists are released and promoted”.[13] To be eligible in the category of Best New Artist, the artist, duo, or group:

  • Must have released a minimum of five singles/tracks or one album, but no more than 30 singles/tracks or three albums.
  • May not have entered into this category more than three times, including as a performing member of an established group.
  • Must have achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and impacted the musical landscape during the eligibility period.

These new rules will be effective from the 2017 Grammy season.

Eminem will NOT get a Grammy nom

Not with Revival

Change Eminem with ASAP Rocky

:britsmoke:

Every Eminem album has won this category tho. I do agree Revial isn’t deserving but watch him win because of who he is :nickiprague2:

I’m glad she is still in the running. Is Finesse remix eligible? Imagine her winning Best Pop Duo for that Maroon 5 song as her first Grammy and it’s very possible  :laughcry:

No way in HELL Eminem's Revival has a guaranteed spot. It's one of his worst albums to date.

Again, the GRAMMYs hate her after that horrid 2012 performance. She's never going to win one. Nothing she released is even deserving for any Rap category one. Especially when most of her hits are primarily pop.

Say what you want about Invasion of Privacy, but it's a solid RAP album. If the GRAMMYs are gonna start awarding artists based on writing credits, a lot of your faves wouldn't win anything. :rip:

I'm not sure about the Finesse remix but it might be. It was a released as a single in 2018 and that is usually what counts. :marinadance:
